I was allowed and occasionally worked from home before pandemic. I have an excellent technical setup and separate room for my home office.
But now, almost one year later, I want to go back to the office.
I certainly felt less stressed and more happy when I could enjoy the change in environment and having some in-person social interactions.
Working from home makes me loose the feeling that I'm part of something and the job I liked a lot becomes just "a job".
This is probably not universal, since each company is different, with different traditions. Maybe some people are relieved that they won't have to step into the office ever again. :)
To your second point, I don't see it as being out of step with reality feeling like I am part of something at work. We all want to feel like we are part of something and that we're contributing to society, one way we achieve that is through togetherness and being with other people.
I can think of many things that become boring when other people aren't involved.
Okay good for you, why add your voice and make it harder for the vast majority of people that don’t want this. Go sit in your office when the quarantine is done but please be quiet about your opinions so legitimate change can happen before then for the rest of us.
