FYI I discovered oracle cloud’s free tier is incredibly good for this kind of thing and saw it wasn’t mentioned as an option. It should be. The offering is bananas: 10tb of bandwidth at 1gbps with 4 arm cpus + 24GB of ram. And if you want a really cheesy GitHub workflow to auto deploy to oracle cloud: https://github.com/matthewaveryusa/oracle_actions/blob/maste...

I’m currently deploying a Tailscale exit node and it works great, will definitely try to deploy amnesia too, looks very user friendly.

Well weirdly when I tried it, I remember the bandwidth was limited to 50 Mbps on the free tier. I think this restriction is applied on all machines made after a certain date.

Could it be your WiFi? I am getting 800Mbs on a MV I created last month with a quad ampere A1 24GB instance.

What does this offer beyond what you'd get from setting up OpenVPN or WireGuard yourself? Or is the only purpose that it does the setup for you?

Didn’t Trail of Bits have a turnkey solution like this years ago?

Isn‘t a self-hosted VPN at least as problematic as a commercial one privacy-wise, given that VPSes usually have a static IP?

Depends on your threat model, if indeed there is one. If all you want to do is appear in another country to access services you wouldn't have otherwise been able to, it's fine.
