My friend invited me out to karaoke, but most of the songs I know aren't popular enough to be in karaoke systems. It turns out that the local karaoke place has a song database that serves queries formatted as a URL parameter, so I wrote a script to query it for every artist I've listened to on Last.FM. I found out that Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden are surprisingly good picks for karaoke! Very cool. As a fan of metal with “extreme” vocals, I was blown away one night at a karaoke place when a guy went up and screamed the vocals to an Arch Enemy song!
