I wish I had that one as a kid. I mostly played NFS for DOS and Test Drive or Outrun on the C64.

Did you ever play GeneRally? Kind of a similar top-down racer for Windows (works in Wine as well) which is a lot of fun and has plenty of mods.

Edit: After playing--even just from the menu UI I wouldn't be surprised to find that GeneRally is meant as an homage to Slicks 'n' Slide...

Yesss! I remember Gene Rally. Felt like a mindblowingly spiritual successor to Slicks 'n Slide :) Great memories!
