I'm excited about the social songwriting aspect here. It honestly hadn't occurred to me. It makes a ton of sense and it's something I wish I had when I was younger and searching for bandmates or songwriting accomplices. The idea that you can put an unfinished piece of your music out there with the intention that someone else helps turn it into something greater just feels like a direct hit on what the internet is for. Good luck with this!
I've seen ideas along these lines before, and hope this one takes off. The first time I saw it was an EMagic plugin just before Apple bought Logic... it was really cool, you were in some sort of chat room with other musicians, you'd download the tracks locally, record a new track, and upload it. But it made the uploading and downloading really easy with a nice UI, and it was annoying when it got discontinued.
Oh, TIL Logic was not always an Apple product. Upload + download is possible right now but deeper integration with DAWs is on the roadmap. I’m going to create a native sidecar app that can turn your DAW into an input device for the browser to record from.
Funny I'd love to have an AI model complete my dozens of unfinished songs from the 80s and 90s but a) they’re all on tascam four track cassettes and b) I’d have to listen to them again.
would be great to see a bulk import type operation at some point. i dislike having these kinds of things in multiple places but i'd have to upload a couple of hundred files to get my idea bank into this space.
Yeah you're not the first to request this, it makes a lot of sense as a next step. So I can better understand the constraints, how much memory are we talking if you were to import all those files?
