An Obscure Military Program Helps Local Cops Buy Armored Card and Spyware (theintercept.com)

Local acquisitions under this program have saved lives in fire and search & rescue operations. It turns out thermal imaging is pretty useful for that kind of thing. The local SWAT team's Bearcat armored vehicle helped stop bullets when a madman terrorized nearby Paso Robles, shooting into their police station and leading SWAT teams on a moving gunfight through the area.

Funny how the pointlessly-gendered Women for Weapons Trade Transparency aren't transparent about that.
